ABOUT THIS CD
A project about French music composed between the end of the nineteenth century and the beginning of the twentieth century because.
Snider and Rainelli have always been fascinated by the elegance of the melodic invention, the harmonic sophistication and tonal refinement of the combinations of instruments that are typical of music from this period.
In “French Flute Favourites” given pride of place to works by lesser-known composers, ranging from Widor’s late romantic style to Sancan’s more modern and extrovert compositions, from Gaubert’s impressionist reminiscences to Bozza’s lyrical sensitivity, and have included a tribute to a great female composer, Cécile Chaminade.
A rich and diverse repertoire that offers the listener the chance to get to grips with a wide variety of expressive styles, ranging from the cantabile to the virtuoso, from the expressive to the whimsical, and which create a kaleidoscope of sensations.
Liner notes
We decided to devote our project to French music composed between the end of the nineteenth century and the beginning of the twentieth century because we have always been fascinated by the elegance of the melodic invention, the harmonic sophistication and tonal refinement of the combinations of instruments that are typical of music from this period. We have given pride of place to works by lesser-known composers, ranging from Widor’s late romantic style to Sancan’s more modern and extrovert compositions, from Gaubert’s impressionist reminiscences to Bozza’s lyrical sensitivity, and have included a tribute to a great female composer, Cécile Chaminade.
A rich and diverse repertoire that offers the listener the chance to get to grips with a wide variety of expressive styles, ranging from the cantabile to the virtuoso, from the expressive to the whimsical, and which create a kaleidoscope of sensations in which we hope we will be able to engage you.
